World Congress to attract 5,000 delegates

SEOUL The world’s largest medical congress for ear, nose and throat specialists has chosen Seoul as the host city for its next international conference.

The World Congress of the International Federation of Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Societies (IFOS) will be held there in 2013 and will attract more than 5,000 participants from 100 countries. It will be the fourth time the event has been held in Asia.

Samuel Koo, CEO of Seoul Tourism Organization, said: “Winning the bid for this event involved the efforts and enthusiasm of the Korean Otorhinolaryngology Society, in cooperation with the City of Seoul and the Seoul Tourism Organization’s systematic bidding support system.”

Seoul’s success continues its recent run of wins, including successful bids for the 2011 OECD High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (2,000 delegates), the 2012 International Congress of Mathematics (5,000) and the 2015 International Commission on Occupational Health (3,000).
