Phuket’s infrastructure boost

International convention centre to open in 2015

BANGKOK The Thai government has approved long-awaited plans for an international convention and exhibition centre on the island of Phuket.

The US$78 million development will be located on a 60-acre site in the north of the island, 15 minutes’ drive from the international airport.

Construction will begin in 2012 and is expected to take three years. Initial plans include three exhibition halls and two hotels.
