Joint bid brings 2010 UFI Congress to Singapore

SINGAPORE UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, will hold the 77th UFI Congress from November 10 to 13 next year in Singapore – some 16 years since it was first hosted in the city-state. The Singapore Association of Conference and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) will be event  host and Marina Bay Sands (MBS) will be the venue sponsor.

The UFI Congress is MBS’s first publicly announced event. The venue is due to be completed at the end of this year. UFI managing director Vincent Gérard said: “Hosting this important international congress in Singapore was a popular choice for our association. “We are delighted to return to a location which is an outstanding representative of the MICE industry.”

Edward Liu, SACEOS president and chairman of the organising committee, said: “The UFI Congress presents a wonderful opportunity to expose international delegates to the facilities in Singapore and capabilities of the local exhibition industry players. “Such an event will help attract more organisers to host events in Singapore.”

UFI’s annual conferences usually draw about 350 member-delegates comprising show organisers, national and international professional associations, and industry partners from more than 50 countries.
