As a PhRMA-code compliant venue, Suntec hosted more than 10 major medical and healthcare events, including the International Osteoporosis Federation Regionals 6th Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting, Asia PCR/SingLIVE 2016 for cardiovascular specialists, and long-running twin events, International Society Pharmaceutical Engineering Singapore Conference & Exhibition and International Dental Exhibition & Meeting. IDEM 2016, the most established clinical dental conference in the region, drew more than 8,500 attendees.

Suntec made great strides in innovative technology too. In June, it launched its ImmersiveAV Suite, which includes holographic and panoramic presentations on wide-format projection screens to create a ‘wow’ effect for the audience.

The venue now uses wifi data analytics to gain better insights into visitor behaviour. Using data from previous events, Suntec is able to work with exhibition and conference organisers to enhance their show-floor designs and activities.

Suntec Singapore CEO Arun Madhok, says: “Big data obtained through our wifi analytics enables event organisers to take the guesswork out of knowing visitors’ behaviour within an event and throughout the centre. It helps organisers and the centre to respond quickly to patterns emerging during the event, and obtain facts for future planning.

“Insights gleaned can elevate discussions of questions such as whether attendee behaviour is driven more by their location within an exhibition or the products on display. The potential benefits from applying the data are tremendous.”

Suntec also continued to win awards, including ‘Asia’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre’ by World Travel Awards for the 11th consecutive year.

Suntec is gearing up for a busy 2017. Key events will feature large international and local exhibitions and conferences, including some using Singapore for the first time, across a mix of industries such as technology, pharmaceutical, F&B and lifestyle.

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore (MBS)

Sands Expo and Convention Centre did well in numbers in 2016, given its size. It is the first venue in Singapore to attain MICE Sustainability Certification (Intermediate Level) awarded by the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS).

MBS also topped two Singapore Tourism Awards 2016 categories, for ‘Best Business Event Venue’ and ‘Best Meeting/Incentive Organiser’ with direct-sales giant Forever Living for the latter’s 2015 Global Rally.

New-to-Singapore events hosted included Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Expo, Aircraft Interiors Expo Asia and Future Travel Experience (FTE) Asia Expo—the biggest airline passenger experience trade show in Asia; and Asia’s first Millennial 20/20 Summit at the ArtScience Museum.

In 2017, MBS will be hosting many repeat and new events, and targeting more mid-sized groups of 500 to 2,000 delegates.
