About Melbourne
Melbourne is a multicultural and sophisticated city of four million people, filled with shops, restaurants, and bars and cafes. There are plenty of things to do and see in and around Melbourne. The city is easily navigated on foot and is widely recognised as the ‘food capital’ of Australia.

Renowned for its fabulous shopping, Melbourne attractions include designer stores in the city; the exclusive boutiques of Chapel Street; and bargain-hunting in the buzzing atmosphere of the Queen Victoria Market. Peer down almost any laneway in the city and catch a glimpse of the ‘secret Melbourne’ – a place of edgy art, hidden bars and cutting-edge design.

The city is also home to the best sporting events in Australia – the Australia Open in January, the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in March, The Ashes Cricket match in summer, Australia’s most famous horse race, The Melbourne Cup in September and Australia’s very own AFL.
