About Phuket
Located in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of Thailand, Phuket Island will soon have an expanded international airport that will also be the country’s aviation hub. The report said the Cabinet has approved a 5.8 billion baht for the expansion of the airport that will be completed in 2013. Upon completion, the airport is expected to accommodate 12.5 million passengers per year, or more than double its current capacity of 6.5 million passengers.

The construction of the Phuket International Convention and Exhibition Center is also under way and will be completed simultaneously with the airport project. Under the plan, the center will have an expanded area of 42,000 square meetings and will have a large convention hall for 6,000 persons as well as many smaller meeting rooms.

There are currently 628 hotels and other types of accommodation with more than 37,500 rooms in Phuket. While Phuket is famous for its sand, sea, and sun, it is also blessed with outstanding culture and an interesting history.
