Taipei has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate which is slightly short of a true tropical climate. Summers are very hot, humid, with a maximum temperature of 34 °C and accompanied by occasional heavy rainstorms and typhoons, while winters are short, mild and generally very foggy with an average temperature of around 17 °C.
