Two-day event at Hyatt Regency Sha Tin
Event Speedo International Season One 2010 ConferenceVenue Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin Delegates 95 Date May 26-27 The brief Speedo is an international swim and sportswear manufacturer. Its half-yearly sales conference is designed to attract potential buyers from around the region who are unable to attend its global events in Europe. Challenges Speedo had originally planned to host a barbecue dinner in the hotel’s outdoor entertainment area beside the pool. Heavy rain meant this was moved indoors to the ballroom foyer and the adjacent meeting facilities. “The day before the event it was raining quite heavily,” says Joanna Men, marketing manager at Speedo International. “The hotel’s sales team put together a very helpful contingency plan. We had a buffet set-up in the meeting rooms with chefs barbecuing along the covered outdoor terrace that connects them as well as tables and a live band in the spacious ballroom foyer.” Despite the change, almost all delegates stayed to enjoy the dinner, music and games. Execution The conference was attended by 95 delegates from ten countries, 40 of whom stayed overnight. The event began with a morning conference, legal presentation and Q&A session in the ballroom. Self-serve buffet coffee breaks on were held on both days in the ballroom foyer area. Lunch was held at Sha Tin 18, the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant. During the first day’s lunch break, the hotel’s events team transformed the ballroom for the afternoon’s catwalk show. Two sales discussions followed, the first with Japanese buyers in the ballroom and the second, a China progress update was held in a boardroom on the 24th floor. The next morning, buyers viewed a product display and presentation in the ballroom, which was set-up with two branded podiums, a large screen and several display points. Closing sessions included a meeting in the ballroom and a phone conference in a second meeting room on the 24th floor. Comment Men says: “Hyatt Regency, Sha Tin has the right resort feel for our product combined with an excellent sales team and the high-quality audiovisual facilities required for an event like this.” ![]()
