Business Events Sydney (BESydney) says its latest study is a breakthrough in showing that corporate events ought not to be evaluated solely in tourism terms by authorities.
According to the convention bureau, the second phase of its ‘Beyond Tourism Benefits: Measuring the social legacies of business events’ is a “huge step” in changing attitudes.
“Our industry has long struggled to measure the important legacy effects of hosting conferences and conventions,” says Lyn Lewis-Smith, the bureau’s acting CEO.
The study says long-term benefits for nations and regions include more educational, intellectual, and trade and investment opportunities.
