Brisbane has secured a series of influential international conferences that will bring 6,000 medical, science and allied health experts from around the world to Queensland.

The conferences, which were won following pitches against Canada, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and other destinations, are worth an estimated US$17 million to the state’s economy. The bids were led by Events Queensland, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and Brisbane Marketing.

A spokesman for the city’s convention centre said the conferences were important for Queensland’s strategic growth and investment, including the medical and allied health professions, creative industries, climate and marine environment.
