MACAU Sands China has announced new management contracts for the hotel properties on its relaunched Cotai Strip development.
The 3,863-room Sheraton will remain, but what were originally to be Shangri-La, Traders and St. Regis properties, will now be managed by Conrad and Holiday Inn.
The entire development, known as Sands Cotai Central, will offer more than 27,000 sqm of meeting space and will open in phases from March 2012.
Hilton Worldwide’s five-star Conrad Macau has 636 rooms and is scheduled to open in early 2012, while InterContinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) four-star Holiday Inn Macau has over 1,200 rooms and will open by the end of the first quarter.
The additional 6,000 rooms will give the Cotai Strip added appeal to associations and big incentive groups.
In addition, Sands Cotai Central will have extensive meeting and convention space, luxury retail shops, and entertainment and dining options.
Wolfram Diener, vice-president of conventions and exhibitions, Venetian Macau, said: “Holiday Inn will be a different ball game for us, as we will be able to offer a much larger variety of room categories and affordable accommodation.
“It will enable us to cater to new segments of exhibitors and delegates, and working with IHG gives Sands China and the Venetian more international exposure.”
