SEOUL Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Seoul Tourism Organisation (STO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to capitalise on the bilateral relationship between the countries by building sustainable growth in the MICE industry.
Hong Heegon, director of STO, said: “This MoU will highlight the collaboration between Korea and Thailand, which will support and strengthen the economic relations between both countries.”
Korea is a market with strong growth potential for Thailand. Korean travellers make up 6.1% of total MICE travellers from Asia to Thailand. Compared with 2010, the rate of revenue earned this year from the Korean market has grown by 12%.
Similarly, around 200,000 business travellers from Thailand headed to Korea in 2010. Akapol Sorasuchart, President of TCEB, said, “This bilateral MoU is part of TCEB’s key policies to create partnership networks and promote government-to-government collaboration, strengthening the MICE industry of both countries. It will focus on promoting human resource development, culture and economy.”
