Shangri-La Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia, opens in summer this year. The 235-room property has 4,000 sqm of event space with maximum capacity of 1,500 delegates in its largest space, the Grand Ballroom. Shangri-La’s latest hotel in Inner Mongolia – after Hohhot and Baotou, is within walking distance from the Russian border.
 
Pullman Lijiang Resort & Spa in Yunnan opened in April with 79 villas – each with an outdoor heated tub and 51 deluxe rooms. The resort is located next to the Shuhe ancient town, just a short distance from the Dayan ancient town, and offers breathtaking views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Meeting facilities include five meeting rooms and a 330 sqm ballroom with a local Naxi style décor.
 
St. Regis Lhasa is set on the Tibetan Plateau with 122 guestrooms, 28 villas and 12 suites. The hotel features brilliant views of the mountains and surrounding city. It can host meetings of up to 200 people. Lhasa also claims to have sun 365 days of the year.

New Nanjing
Westin Nanjing opened in March, with the city now just over 70 minutes from Shanghai by high-speed train. Located within the Nanjing International Center in the central business district, all 234 rooms have views of Xuanwu Lake. It offers over 1,000 sqm of event space, including a 530 sqm ballroom.

InterContinental Nanjing
opened last year, claiming the tallest hotel spot in Nanjing. Its vantage position affords panoramic views of the city as well as Lake Xuanwu and the Zijin Mountain. The hotel’s 433 rooms are spread over 21 floors and there are two grand ballrooms of 1,000 sqm each.
 
Crowne Plaza Huangshan Yucheng, located by Taiping Lake near Huangshan (the Yellow Mountain) – one of the best-known tourist attractions in China, will open in late 2011. Part of a resort, it will offer 500 guestrooms.

Greater Guangzhou
InterContinental Foshan
 was also added to the hotel chain’s network last year. Located 20 minutes from downtown Guangzhou, the 450-room hotel has a ballroom that can host up to 930 delegates.

Near Foshan, the recently opened Crowne Plaza Huizhou is two hours from the Hong Kong International Airport and just under 90 minutes from Shenzhen International Airport. With 375 guestrooms, it also offers 13 meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 1,300 delegates.

In Chongqing, one of China’s four municipalities, the largest convention facilities in west China is currently under construction in the city’s Yubei district. The Chongqing Convention and Exhibition Center will open in 2012, offering total floor area of 607,000 sqm.

Westin Chongqing Liberation Square is set to open late this year. The 300-room downtown hotel features 11 meeting rooms and some 2,000 sqm of event space in total. Before the Westin opens, the Sheraton Chongqing Hotel opens this summer on the bank of the Yangtze River. There are 404 guestrooms, including the 80 sqm Elite Rooms which all have views of the Yangtze. The 14 meeting rooms offer total event space of 2,260 sqm.
