HONG KONG UBM Asia has promoted Michael Duck to executive vice-president. He remains based in Hong Kong and reports to president and CEO of UBM Asia Jimé Essink. Duck has contributed significantly to the growth of UBM Asia since it was launched in 1994, especially in the Hong Kong, China and US markets.

Duck is an executive board director of UFI, the global exhibitions association, and was the first chairman of the Asia Chapter of UFI. He also is the chairman of the Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association. His other key area of interest is in corporate social responsibility, sustainability and health and safety.

Duck said: “Sustainability is extremely important and we are starting to see some changes in the industry. Simple steps such as reducing the use of carpeting and the amount of paper for promotional materials can result in an event that is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.”

In addition, Duck has nurtured business growth for the company in the maritime, beauty and fashion/leather fields.
