HONG KONG Corporate groups based in Hong Kong can join a teambuilding challenge with a difference by taking part in Give and Gain Day on Friday June 24.

Give and Gain Day is a worldwide initiative encouraging companies and their employees to offer their services and/or time on a voluntary basis to charities and the local community. Community Business, which is the driving force behind Hong Kong’s Give and Gain programme, is calling for at least 100 local businesses and their leaders to pledge their time on June 24, or during the week of June 18-26.

Robin Bishop, chief operating officer of Community Business, called on Hong Kong business leaders to commit their staff to the team challenge. “By rising to this challenge, Give and Gain Day 2011 will not only benefit your chosen charity or community organisation but will help to establish yourself as an employer of choice, giving you a chance to engage with your employees and provide them with an opportunity to give something back.”

Last year 78 Hong Kong businesses (and at least 40 CEOs and senior executives) took part in this global volunteering initiative with over 2,131 employees volunteering 7,702 hours of their collective time on over 98 volunteer activities serving Hong Kong charitable organisations and NGOs.
