BANGKOK The Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec) will begin a US$13.4 million renovation of its main convention hall in 2012.
The upgrade will follow the completion of a US$8.3 million skywalk linking the venue to a new BTS SkyTrain station, which will be operational from August. A 5,000 sqm hall will welcome delegates arriving from the station, which can also be used for events.
The increased connectivity has been well received by planners, indicated by recent event wins. These include the 44th World Congress of the International Society of Surgery, which will attract 2,000 delegates in 2015.
