The brief
Ermenegildo Zegna wanted to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special outdoor party at the Shanghai Concert Hall. It outsourced its catering and service needs to Grand Hyatt Shanghai.
Challenges
The Shanghai Concert Hall is owned by the government, which means there are strict regulations on how the venue can be used. This included details on the set-up, design, use of electricity and transportation of equipment. The Grand Hyatt team had to work closely with government officials to ensure there were no problems on the event night.
The event was held in July, one of the hottest months in Shanghai. The storage area for the catering was close to the entrance, which made it difficult to keep iced food cold.
At the client’s request, the hotel also had to arrange specially designed outfits for the staff, which included a Zegna logo on the aprons.
Execution
Grand Hyatt Shanghai was in charge of the event set-up, food and beverages, as well as providing the outside catering service team.
The F&B team set-up round-shaped seating areas for the guests. Guests included members of the Zegna family, international designers, supermodels, celebrities, VIP guests and media.
The welcome cocktails started at 8.30pm with a live deejay and stylised mood lighting in the room. Video screens flashed the brand image video and a fashion trends film around the room. A fashion parade followed, then the party began and continued until the early hours.
