MANILA The Philippines will host the 50th Orient and Southeast Asian (OSEAL) Forum at SMX Convention Center from November 24-27, 2011.

The forum returns to Manila for its golden anniversary, host city for its first Asian Forum in 1957. SMX Convention Center general manager Dexter Deyto said: “It is of great significance to have this event here on its 50th anniversary at SMX Convention Center. We are expecting over 6,000 delegates who will serve as our ambassadors of goodwill following their return to their native countries.”

The OSEAL Forum is expected to generate revenue of US$10 million for the local economy, on top of the numerous CSR projects during the event.

“This event will generate significant tourism receipts, which will help the Philippines in its bid for a larger share of the regional and global MICE market,” said Deyto. “With a steady flow of events like this, we should be able to bring back the glory days of MICE tourism.”

The organising committee will host a Philippine night on November 20, during the 49th OSEAL Forum in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.
