PERTH The business tourism industry of Western Australia has launched Perth Event Show, its own annual trade event. The Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) will be the major sponsor.

“The industry has now come of age and I believe it can support and sustain an annual trade show in Perth,” said PCB managing director, Christine McLean.

The inaugural Perth Event Show will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) from May 6-7, 2011.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm and support from our industry members and a strong commitment by all the partners to ensure this trade show is a success and an annual fixture on the PCB’s calendar,” said McLean.

The state’s business events industry has continued to prosper since the opening of PCEC in 2004. PCB secured 134 conventions and incentive travel groups in the 2009-10 fiscal year, representing an estimated 50,000 delegates and US$85 million in delegate spend over the next three years. The latter sum represents a 40% increase on last year’s figure.
