SINGAPORE The third instalment of the annual trade show is welcoming back several exhibitors who missed the 2009 event, as well as a number of new participants and educational programmes.
“ITB Asia is on track to attract about 650 exhibiting organisations this year,” said the show’s executive director, Nino Gruettke. “We expect around 21,000 buyer-seller meetings.”
Returning exhibitors include Putrajaya Marriott Hotel and Spa, and Sol Melia Hotels and Resorts. The Guangdong Tourism Authority, Bhutan Department of Tourism and Israel are among the new exhibitors, which will comprise more than 30% of participants in the event.
“ITB Asia is unique because we present such a diversity of global travel products to Asian buyers,” said Gruettke.
The event will be held at Suntec Singapore from October 20-22. The concurrent Web in Travel technology, marketing and distribution conference has confirmed more than 75 speakers.
In addition, speakers at the first Association Day have promised “to tell it like it is”. Robin Lokerman, CEO of MCI Asia Pacific and its Institutional Division, Pieter Idenburg, CEO of Suntec Singapore, Mike Williams, senior consultant at Gary Grimmer & Company, and Oliver Chong, director of conventions and meetings at Singapore Tourism Board, are among the expert line-up. The specialist forum runs from October 20-21 and will conclude with a networking function at Resorts World Sentosa.
