Borneo Convention Centre Kuching
It is hard to believe Malaysia’s newest convention facility is only just nearing its first anniversary. Within the past 10 months it has hosted a number of dental and medical conferences, won several major bids and in October, will host Diabetes Asia 2010.
Upcoming events include the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) International Scientific Meeting and the 14th Asia Pacific Congress of Paediatrics, both of which will be held in 2012.
Its Great Hall has a 10m-high ceiling and seats almost 4,000 people theatre style (including 600 tiered seats), more than 2,000 for banquets and can be divided into four smaller halls. The surrounding 14 meeting rooms seat up to 500 people, or 825 when several are combined. A 520-room hotel with direct access is planned for 2013 and an expansion to include exhibition space is under discussion.
