ASIAWORLD-EXPO
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, AsiaWorld-Expo near Hong Kong International Airport offers the largest indoor conference and banqueting venue in the city. AsiaWorld-Summit/Hall 2 can host events for 700 to 5,000 attendees and offers a range of event equipment and professional catering and planning services.
A new addition to AsiaWorld-Expo’s calendar was Cartes in Asia held in March. Organised by Comexposium, it was the first smart-technology industry show held in Asia in the event’s 24-year history. The three-day event focused on smart cards and security solutions, and was so successful that it will return again next March.
In April, China Sourcing Fairs held its largest-ever event in spring, with 14,000 exhibitors and 144,000 trade visitors. Since it relocated from Shanghai to Hong Kong in 2006, the event has grown from six shows to 17 in 2010. Specialist shows catering to garments and textiles will be added in October.
Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel links directly with AsiaWorld-Expo and offers 625 rooms and 33 suites. A 10-minute ride away is the Regal Airport Hotel, which is connected to the airport. Six minutes from the airport and AsiaWorld-Expo is Novotel Hong Kong Citygate.

HONG KONG CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CENTRE (HKCEC)
HKCEC completed its expansion last April and now has 92,000 sqm that seamlessly connects Phase I and II on the same floor as Hall 1 and Hall 3. This ensures that the new building configuration is more efficient in terms of space and traffic flow.
In May HKCEC hosted VinExpo Asia-Pacific 2010, which had a 28 per cent increase in exhibitors (to 882) from 35 countries. During the event, HKCEC staff had to collect and clean 45,000 wine glasses daily, as well as gather eight tonnes of wine bottles for recycling.
Asia’s largest mid-year international event, the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2010, was held at HKCEC. There was a nine per cent increase in exhibitors (to 1,200) from 31 countries. As this event required specific conditions for the jewellery, the show hall temperatures were closely monitored at all times of the day to prevent condensation.
In order to get to Hong Kong International Airport, a complimentary shuttle bus runs from HKCEC to Hong Kong Station in Central for the Airport Express, a 23-minute ride to the airport. Trains leave every 12 minutes.
HKCEC is directly connected to Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and Renaissance Harbour View. A few blocks away is Novotel Century, while JW Marriott, Conrad and Island Shangri-La are a short taxi ride away at Pacific Place in Admiralty.
