Shangri-La Guangzhou recently invested US$2 million to install new 60 sqm LED technology in its ballrooms – the Pearl River Ballroom can seat 3,000 theatre style and the Guangzhou Ballroom can host 1,196 theatre style. There is also a 100-seat auditorium ideal for presentations. The 704-room hotel is next door to Guangzhou International Convention Centre.


NEW OPENING
InterContinental Foshan is the latest China opening for IHG. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from central Guangzhou and the exhibition centre. It features 450 guestrooms and its ballroom can seat 630 delegates for a banquet and 930 for a cocktail reception.

The 350-room Grand Hyatt is Guangzhou’s leading CBD meeting hotel with a ballroom that can host 1,155 theatre style and 740 for a sit-down dinner. Other meeting spaces include seven salons that can hold from 12 to 110 people. It also offers three restaurants and two bars for after-hours events.

The 446-room Westin Guangzhou offers seven high-tech meeting rooms, the largest of which holds 700 for a cocktail reception or 550 theatre style. Some meeting spaces feature natural lighting. The hotel is also next door to CITIC Plaza, which is home to the majority of the city’s Fortune 500 companies.
 
Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou is the city’s premier property in terms of room quality. It features 35 suites and 58 club level guestrooms among its 351 guestrooms and its French-themed ballroom can host 600 for receptions and 420 for seated dinners.
 
DEVELOPING LOCATION
Sheraton Shunde opened last August with 385 oversized guestrooms. It features four restaurants and Link@Sheraton. For meetings and events, its 1,340 sqm ballroom and nine function rooms can cater to a small-scale meeting or a banquet of up to 1,000 delegates.

The 460-room Pullman Baiyun Airport is an ideal meeting point for smaller regional meetings thanks to its proximity to Guangzhou International Airport. The hotel offers nine meeting rooms ranging in capacity from 12 to 500 delegates. The hotel is 45 minutes from Guangzhou’s central business district.

COMING UP
Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich will open later this year and is strategically located in Tianhe, Guangzhou’s dynamic financial and commercial district. The hotel is less than a kilometre from city landmark CITIC Square and a five-minute drive from Guangzhou East Railway Station, the transportation hub connecting Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

The new hotel will feature 493 guestrooms and a range of French-themed meeting spaces, the largest of which will hold 800 theatre style.
