POOLSIDE EVENTS
The poolside terrace at Grand Hyatt is always popular for evening events, often hosting buffet receptions for 200 people at The Grill. The adjacent Poolhouse can host 120 people for receptions or 96 diners for banquets. HSBC Private Bank recently held an event here. The new Waterfall Bar is available for intimate receptions of 35 people offering champagne, fine wines and canapés.

Island Shangri-La also operates a poolside event space, Waterside Terrace, that serves Thai cuisine and can host 120 people for a standing reception or 50 for dinner. Minimum charge is US$2,560 per event.





Club@28 at Crowne Plaza Causeway Bay is a rooftop lounge adjacent to the hotel’s infinity pool, suitable for meeting breaks. Larger groups of up to 70 can be accommodated at the Pavilion lounge.

Hyatt Regency Sha Tin makes the most of its New Territories location with a spacious poolside terrace and lawn with a barbecue area. Groups of more than 35 can host functions here with F&B packages including rib-eye steak, squid, sea bass, spring chicken and salads, desserts and fresh fruit for US$49 per person. Beverage packages start at US$5 per person.

The hotel’s Salon rooms open directly onto the terrace, perfect for a breath of fresh air during meeting breaks.

SCENIC LAWNS
On the south side of Hong Kong Island, Repulse Bay Hotel reopened several function spaces in April following year-long renovations. A new air-conditioned marquee seats 250 people for dinner and can be opened out onto a courtyard on warm evenings.

The newly refurbished Verandah restaurant has just launched a buffet lunch menu featuring its ever-popular soufflé. This can be packaged with an event on the lawn area that overlooks the bay. BMW and Bentley have recently held events here.

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has several outdoor event spaces that work well for meeting breaks and teambuilding programmes. In addition to the 1,500 sqm of ballrooms and meeting rooms is the Dreamer’s Garden, which is popular for breakouts, receptions and buffets. The Mickey Maze is ideal for a meeting break with a difference and the hotel’s ferry pier, which overlooks the South China Sea, can host cocktail parties for up to 400 guests.

The 4,000 sqm adjacent West Lawn is often used for teambuilding activities designed and run by Paradigm Consultants International, a Hong Kong-based company that has worked with HSBC, Standard Chartered and Goldman Sachs. Team Activation packages include a one-day meeting, after-4pm Park Pass and choice of one of four teambuilding activities from US$130 per person. ING, Pfizer and Rotary held events here.

TOP TERRACES
The Azure rooftop bar and terrace at Hotel LKF is one of the city’s most exclusive spots for events, with views stretching across Victoria Harbour and the Kowloon peninsula beyond. This elevated space can host 160 people for cocktails Monday to Thursday, and minimum spend is US$3,845.

The terrace running alongside Chin Chin Bar at Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui provides a great option for groups wanting a mix of outdoor and indoor function space. The indoor bar seats 80, while the long terrace can host 40 standing.

The Garden Suite at the nearby Peninsula is an elegant 250 sqm function space flooded with natural light. The residential-style suite can host 60 people for receptions and 48 for banquets in the drawing room, which features a large terrace with panoramic views of the Hong Kong skyline.

The Backyard at Langham Place, Mongkok has established itself as one of Kowloon’s favoured event spots. The two-tier space can host 160 people for cocktail receptions. Its new cocktail and canapé package caters for 80 people for two hours for US$5,640.

Mira Hong Kong opened its fifth-floor Terrace Garden last year, a rare outdoor event space in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. A meeting in the modern third-floor function rooms can be followed with an outdoor cocktail event for up to 100 people.
