MELBOURNE Australia’s southern city has won its bid to host the International Lactation Consultant Conference 2013.
The conference is estimated to attract around 1,500 delegates and inject US$6.5 million into the Victorian state economy.
“The International Lactation Consultant Association’s (ILCA) Conference provides a rich learning environment for lactation professionals and others who assist mothers and babies with breastfeeding,” said Sandra Chipchase, CEO of the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB).
ICLA members from 50 countries will bring their expertise to Melbourne.
“These conferences enhance local industry by attracting the world’s leading experts in a range of fields,” said Chipchase. “This five-day business event will not only bring in valuable delegate dollars to Melbourne, but will also provide a catalyst for attendees and their accompanying families and friends to engage in pre- and post-touring around Victoria.
