Event Colliers International Award Trip to Bali
Venue Padma Resort Bali at Legian, Bali
Organiser Padma Resort Bali
Group size 100
Date April 20-25
The Brief
Colliers International holds regular award trips to thank employees for their recent achievements. Bali was chosen for this year’s event, and the client wanted to include activities like an island tour and an awards night dinner to reward the outstanding achievers of 2008 and 2009.
Challenges
Preparation for the event began in December, but a week before the awards night, the local organiser handling the event closed down. The team from Padma Resort Bali stepped in and took over the arrangements.
The awards night was to be held at open-air venue, Candi Bentar on Friday evening. But that plan had to be quickly changed after a torrential downpour three hours beforehand threatened to cause chaos. The event was quickly moved to another venue, the resort’s Wantilan Ballroom, which holds up to 700 people.
Execution
Welcome cocktails were held in the presidential suite and the weather remained fine throughout the evening. Despite the last-minute venue change, the awards night ran smoothly. The evening began with a buffet dinner, and the awards presentation wrapped up with a spectacular fire dance. The island trip on the last day of the retreat was very popular and everyone enjoyed exploring Bali.
Comment
May Chow, Colliers International regional associate director of marketing and communications, says: “Bali is a beautiful island that offers both leisure and business options for international groups.
“The Bali Retreat was a success for Colliers International and we received positive comments from all participants. They enjoyed the resort and were impressed by the hospitality and service of the staff.
"We are happy with how the event was run, especially when the local vendor closed down four days before our arrival. The effort made to accommodate last-minute, and often unpredictable, requests was very much appreciated."
