JEJU Korea’s Jeju Island has continued its push to attract regional MICE business by hosting Jeju International Green MICE Week 2010 last month.

The event, held on April 14 to 16, promoted the island’s offerings to local and international MICE buyers, and played specifically on the theme of a ‘Green MICE industry’.

Park Young-soo, president of Jeju Tourism Organization, said: “Jeju International Green MICE Week 2010’ is a newly planned model to strengthen competitiveness of the domestic MICE industry. It was a great opportunity to show Korea’s strong global position in the MICE industry.”

Park added: “The main purpose of the event was to promote MICE as an environmentally friendly and high-value industry, and also make Jeju the best MICE destination in Northeast Asia.”

Highlights included seminars and a roundtable forum on the development and trends of environmentally friendly MICE operations and strategies for developing Jeju’s MICE industry.

The event was supported by Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Jeju Tourism Organization, and held at Jeju International Convention Center.
