Shanghai is preparing to open more luxury hotels in the next few months, in what is turning out to be a battle of the heavyweights. Here is a preview of three of them:
Waldorf Astoria
Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is set near the Huangpu River and has one of the best addresses in town. It will take groups of up to 100 people and the ballroom overlooks the river. The 269-room hotel is divided up into 249 guestrooms and 20 suites. Half of these rooms will have Bund views.

Fairmont Peace Hotel
Also set on the Huangpu river, Fairmont Peace Hotel is one of China’s most anticipated reopenings. The hotel has performed a complete restoration of its original premises (the former Peace Hotel) and features décor and fittings from the early part of the 20th century. The hotel features 270 guestrooms and its largest meeting space is 540 sqm.

Ritz-Carlton Pudong
The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong is in the financial heart of the city. The 285- room property has 1,700 sqm of meetings space. This will be the brand’s second Shanghai property and its seventh in mainland China. Highlights include Flair, its rooftop bar on the 58th floor, which has capacity for 154 people indoors and out.
