The brief
Herbalife University Asia Pacific is the company’s annual training event for its top sales executives across 12 Asia Pacific countries. This was the first time Taiwan had hosted the event. It was chosen due to its success as a Herbalife distributor, reaching top sales figures within the region and third globally.
Challenges
As the event attracts attendees from so many different countries, the host nation had to ensure swift visa processing for all delegates. Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade offered integrated central and local resources, thereby boosting the overall development of the MICE industry in Taiwan. This included financial support, event-planning suggestions and assistance with communications and logistics.
Execution
The previous event in Macau attracted 8,000 delegates and numbers for 2009 were expected to reach12,000. Nangang was awarded the task of accommodating the large group for training sessions and a gala dinner party, and the city provides strong transport and accommodation options.
With Taiwan gaining such success as a seller of Herbalife products in Asia Pacific, a main focus of the event was to study the success model of the ‘Nutrition Club’ created by the Taiwanese distributors. Herbalife organised a set of programmes, all held in the Taipei World Trade Centre. Sessions were led by different country leaders, including US seller Susan Peterson, ranked the number one global distributor for six years.
On the final night, delegates took part in a ‘Careers and Occupation’ themed party. Herbalife Taiwan also partnered with local companies such as Taipei 101 Observatory and the National Palace Museum, as well as brands such as Visa and DFS, to enable attendees to enjoy shopping and cultural experiences.
Comment
