SINGAPORE Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) Convention Centre hosted its first meeting on March 5 – the Singapore Tourism Board annual tourism industry conference for 800 people.
The event was held in its Compass Ballroom, one of Asia’s largest column-free spaces. More than 50 events are confirmed from April through 2011. Besides the convention centre, four hotels and the casino have also opened.
The first phase of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) will open on April 27 – subject to construction proceeding as scheduled and regulatory approvals being obtained, said CEO Thomas Arasi. This would include 963 hotel rooms, part of the shopping mall and convention centre, celebrity-chef restaurants, other dining outlets and casino.
The second phase, comprising the Sands SkyPark, Event Plaza and more retail and dining outlets, will open on June 23 as part of the integrated resort’s grand opening.
