The basics
The 18th Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME 2010) is being held from March 2-3 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organisers are expecting 3, 500 trade visitors, hosted buyers and media, and more than 850 exhibitors from 50 countries.

Seminars include the Business Events Forum, ICCA Forum for Young Professionals and the Saxon Ultimate Event Experience.

What’s new?
Melbourne Convention Centre (MCC), the new world-class host venue. The facility forms part of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, located in the city’s Southbank precinct on the Yarra River.

Networking functions
Melbourne Convention and Visitors’ Bureau is hosting its annual welcome reception at the waterfront Docklands precinct on February 28. The following day includes the AIME Breakfast at the new Crown Conference Centre, the AIME Lunch at Melbourne Convention Centre and the official welcome reception at a surprise location. Tuesday night begins at the venue’s Globe Restaurant and Bar, followed by the traditional Dine Around programme (bookings recommended) and Club Night returns to Crown’s Mix@Fusion.

Hosted buyers
The pre-touring programme for hosted buyers has again been expanded and now includes 13 destinations. New on the touring list are three rural destinations within Victoria – the Yarra Valley wine region, the Southern Grampians mountain ranges and Mildura, a northern city beside the Murray River.

Overnight trips to Mornington Peninsula, Ballarat, Great Ocean Road and Geelong are also available. In Melbourne, there are half- and full-day programmes including a day at the Royal Botanic Gardens and a half-day indigenous experience.

Post-touring options are Australia-wide.
