1. REGIONAL ACCESS
Kota Kinabalu airport is Malaysia’s second largest with direct connections to most Asian cities. Kuching has direct connections to Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Seoul, Jakarta and Perth. Both cities offer several flights to Kuala Lumpur (less than two hours away) a day.


2. CONVENTION CENTRES
Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (www.bcck.com.my) opened earlier this year. Its Great Hall seats 4,000 people theatre style. Upcoming events include the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) International Scientific Meeting and the 14th Asia Pacific Congress of Paediatrics in 2012. 

Sabah International Convention Complex is under construction and will open in 2012. Facilities will include a five-star hotel, 6,500 sqm exhibition hall, a convention hall seating 6,600 delegates, a ballroom and a 650-seat auditorium.

3. USEFUL RESOURCES
Both provinces have dedicated tourism bureaux with services for event planners. Sarawak Convention Bureau has a comprehensive website with destination information, a planner’s guide, information on local suppliers and programme ideas.
