SINGAPORE More than 20 companies have been recognised for service delivery in MICE, business travel, retail, hospitality and entertainment at the inaugural Singapore Experience Awards at Capella Singapore on November 9.

Aw Kah Peng, chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), organiser of the awards, said: “In an industry that demands excellence from businesses and service providers, our award recipients have not only risen to the challenge, they’ve also upped the ante with a customer-centric approach and commitment to product enhancement and quality service.”

The business travel and MICE awards, which had been dropped from the annual Tourism Awards in 2007, were combined with the Tourism Awards in a new format.

Suntec Singapore repeated its 2007 success, topping two categories: Best Business Event Venue Experience and Most Innovative Marketing Initiative (Business Events). CEO Pieter Idenburg (left) said: “We take pride in being flexible, creative and listening to all our clients.”

There were 251 submissions; an independent panel of judges selected the winners. Three individuals were also commended for outstanding contributions to tourism and the 2008 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix received the Breakthrough Contribution to Tourism award.
