Shangri-La’s newly completed US$41 million renovation includes a new façade, Horizon Club lounge, swimming pool and lobby lounge as well as guestroom and suite upgrades. The hotel has 101 suites, the highest number in the city, including a new category of premier selection suites that include walk-in dressing areas and personal bathroom televisions. The hotel also offers two 240 sqm presidential suites for private dinners and cocktail functions, accessible by a private lift from the VIP lobby.

The 510-room Hilton and 320-room Le Meridien are located side-by-side at the KL Sentral airport rail link. The hotels run a streamlined event-planning system called Take 2 that combines the facilities of both properties for groups of up to 500.
The two pillarless ballrooms are located on one level with a shared breakout area and 18 adjacent meeting rooms. Le Meridien’s ballroom seats 500 theatre style, while the Hilton’s seats 1,400. The latter also offers Level 7, a set of contemporary meeting suites for high-end events of up to 160 people. A personalised web page can be created to allow attendees to book their own rooms and get information updates on the event.
BEST FOR… SKY-HIGH EVENTS
Crowne Plaza Mutiara opened its Garden Terrace in June, a rooftop function venue that connects to its penthouse meeting rooms, Windows on KL. The indoor area is ideal for banquets of up to 200 people and the poolside terrace can host receptions for up to 80 people.
BEST FOR…AFTER-HOURS FUNCTIONS
SkyBar at Traders Hotel is still the city’s reigning after-hours rooftop venue. The views of neighbouring Petronas Towers are hard to beat and the recent addition of protective glass panels means the venue can be enjoyed all year round. The hotel’s full-day meeting package costs US$67 per person and includes a two-hour drinks package at the hotspot on level 33.
