The brief
Hero Honda wanted to reward its best-selling Indian dealers with an incentive trip that included a gala dinner with an awards ceremony, sightseeing and leisure time.

Challenges
“The variety of vegetarian requirements was a challenge because some venues were not experienced with the specifications,” says Portia Hau, general manager of Liberty International.

During the gala dinner, Hero Honda wanted everyone to have a good view of the stage. This meant only six people could be seated at each table, around the half facing the stage.

An optional tour to Zhuhai – just across the border in China – attracted more interest than expected, so hotel shuttles transferred those who could not fit on the organised coach.

Execution
The first night was left free for delegates to unwind and dine at a restaurant of their choice. The second day began with a city tour followed by a trip to the Cotai Strip to see City of Dreams and the Venetian. In the evening, delegates were transferred to Macau Tower for the gala dinner.

Hau says: “The number of incentive winners meant we needed five coaches, so we had everyone meet on the observation deck as they arrived. After 30 minutes the group was briefed and began the festivities in the function area.” The following day, the incentive winners chose between the trip to Zhuhai, or a day spent shopping in central Macau.

A buffet lunch was held at AfriKana at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf prior to the group’s return ferry to Hong Kong.

Comment
“MGM Grand provided an excellent check-in and check-out service, allowed us to set-up a hospitality desk and were very good at handling the group’s luggage,” says Hau. “Macau Tower were also very considerate in giving us a larger space than would normally be required for a group of this size.”
