Sadie Yeoh, Pacific World’s area manager for Penang and Langkawi, discusses Haemonetics’ regional event held in Penang from April 25 to 29:

What were the group’s requirements?
Haemonetics is the world leader in automated blood processing, developing and manufacturing equipment. This was its annual sales meeting for the region. The 41-person group required a multi-day conference programme, gala dinner and half-day teambuilding programme.

Where was the event held?
Delegates stayed at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. The conference was held in the meeting rooms with breaks in the ballroom foyer as well as a cocktail reception and dinner on the first evening. The final day was left free for remaining delegates to network and relax, followed by a dinner in the hotel’s Raintree Garden.

Any off-site activities?
On the first afternoon we held a teambuilding programme in Georgetown for the group to discover Penang. Delegates were split into five teams and a series of hands-on activities allowed them to explore the Unesco World Heritage Site in a fun way, as opposed to a standard bus tour.

Activities incorporated different local cultures such as tea pulling at a roadside Indian café. The group then enjoyed cocktails and dinner at Sire Museum Restaurant. This restaurant is the former home of a prominent local businessman converted by the family into a gallery displaying his antique collection.
