THE BRIEF
Pola is a direct-selling cosmetics company based in Japan. Each year the company rewards its ‘Diamond Super-Sellers’ with an overseas trip. The chosen destination must have experience in hosting large-scale events and provide a pleasant and safe atmosphere for its incentive winners, which are all women.
CHALLENGES
Over 1,150 incentive winners flew from Japan to join local colleagues for the four-day event. Transfers and accommodation needed to run seamlessly as Pola wanted its incentive winners to feel special and rewarded.
This required extra manpower as the large group was subdivided following the citation ceremony on the second day and were spread across five hotels: Grand Hyatt, Grand Formosa Regent, Ambassador, Grand Hotel and Sheraton.
Dinners were held each evening in all five hotels and organisers were on hand to ensure each separate event ran smoothly.
EXECUTION
The group was welcomed to Taiwan with a reception at Taiwan International Convention Centre, hosted by Taiwan Tourism Bureau. The welcome included a traditional lion dance, an aboriginal performance and fireworks.
Activities included a city tour that took in the National Democracy Hall, Taipei 101, the National Palace Museum and ended at Shi Lin night market. Some incentive winners also took day trips to central Taiwan to visit Sun Moon Lake and Taroko Gorge.
COMMENT
A Pola spokesperson says: “We chose Taiwan for its friendly atmosphere, the emotional attachment our sales force has with the location and its reputation for good food.”
