Recent events hosted by COEX include the 10th International Exhibition of Oriental Medicine, which was held in November and showcased the work of 200 companies, hospitals and research institutes. It also featured seminars on oriental medicine. The four-day exhibition attracted 60,000 visitors.
Up to 90,000 visitors attended Kidsfair 2008 and Educare 2008, which were held at COEX in November. The events filled 18,400 sqm across Pacific Hall and Indian Hall. The fairs brought together suppliers of learning and educational materials for children, toys, antenatal goods and software.
For the past eight years, COEX and the Korea International Trade Association have held the annual Crysanthemum Festival, which features over eight million flowers and 345 artworks, including flower arrangements, paintings and designs made from fresh chrysanthemums and pressed flowers. Thousands of people attend the free event each year.
In 2010, COEX has a memorandum of understanding to host an eco-friendly joint annual conference of the International Society of Exposure Science and the International Society for Environmental Epistemology. The theme of the convention will be ‘Technology, Environmental Sustainability and Health’.
President and CEO of COEX, Chai Kwan Chung, has been selected as the chairman of the Association of Korean Exhibition Industries, whose mission is to foster growth in the trade fair industry. He also is chairman of the Seoul Convention Council.
