The CBD is just one option for groups visiting Hong Kong island. Beyond Central lie
a number of business hubs and hotels that are ideal for corporate groups.
ADMIRALTY
The JW Marriott Hong Kong is located a short walk from numerous embassies, offices of multinational corporations and above Pacific Place shopping mall. The recently refurbished ballroom has the largest seating capacity in Hong Kong at 1,000 theatre style, and the meeting rooms have also recently been updated. The hotel features 602 rooms and suites and numerous indoor and outdoor dining options.
Nearby is the 513-room Conrad Hong Kong, which has banqueting facilities for up to 620 people. Also at Pacific Place is the Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. The hotel has 565 rooms and suites and ten function spaces, including three with lofty views on level 56.
WAN CHAI
Further east of Admiralty lies Wan Chai, a district undergoing significant change as businesses, restaurants and malls transform its streets.
The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is located here on the harbour, beside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Meeting facilities include one of Grand Hyatt’s few Residences, where emphasis is placed on creating a home-style setting. A central kitchen area serves as an early morning pit stop for delegates, and a pre-function area in the evenings. The Lounge can seat up to 150 theatre style, and The Library and Drawing Room are ideal for smaller meetings, dinners and breakout sessions.
The Renaissance Harbour View Hotel is also nearby.
CAUSEWAY BAY
Ten minutes from Central's Airport Express terminal lies The Excelsior Hong Kong. The 886-room harbourfront hotel recently renovated its meeting and function rooms, which can seat up to 450 for banquets.
Flatscreen televisions and iPod docks are now available in guestrooms and a Wellness Centre has been added. Recent groups include LVMH and L'Oréal.
Also recently renovated is the Regal HongKong Hotel. The 475-room hotel has added four floors, including a Regal Royale section. Rooms within these floors include DVD players, iPod docks, coffee machines and 24-hour personalised butler services.
The large conference centre features 14 meeting and function spaces which seat up to 350 delegates theatre style. Recent groups to use the centre include BNP Paribas.
Crowne Plaza will open an 828-room hotel here in spring 2009, between Hong Kong Stadium and Happy Valley Racecourse.
NORTH POINT
Further east again lies North Point, a 20-minute drive from Central. Harbour Plaza North Point features 669 rooms of varying styles, many of which include small kitchens. There are also 12 function rooms, the largest seats up to 400 theatre style. Nearby is the advertising, telecommunications and media hub of TaiKoo Place.
CYBERPORT
This tech hub continues to attract IT groups who are drawn to its modern design and impressive audiovisual facilities. Le Meridien Cyberport offers 170 rooms with features such as cordless phones for use anywhere in the hotel and 42-inch plasma screens, which can be connected to computers. Within the hotel and adjacent Cyberport buildings there are 18 function rooms which fit up to 300 theatre style, including a tiered 77-seat training theatre. A large lawn is also available for outdoor events.
